Had an issue with my phone, screen wasn't on but I could still use the touchscreen. I usually do this stuff myself, but I didn't have the tools at the time and I was working, so it wasn't an option. Figured I'd take it to Chicago iRepair to see what they can do. For some backstory, I've had an extremely similar issue before on another phone. The issue isn't the screen, rather the Ribbon Display Cable. I had called Monday around 10:30am to see if they could repair it, and told me they could. I told them that i was 99% sure it was the ribbon cable, but they said they needed to check anyway. I asked if it could be done that day, and they agreed if it came in early enough. Flash forward to 2:30,, I brought it in, explained again what I strongly thought the issue was, paid the fee, and left. I was out 3 hours, still no email from them like I had told them to contact me. Gave them a call through google voice, and they said I needed a new display. I was EXTREMELY suspicious because I highly doubted that was the issue, but didn't and couldn't afford a new screen for $260. I came in to get it back to try and fix it myself. When i was shown the phone and picked up, the display wasn't broken at all, it was ON. Funnily enough, when I turned the phone to the backside to check that ribbon cable (Which i figured what the problem was initially) and poked and moved it, the screen went out again. Long story short, I wouldn't take your phone here, either the technician doesn't know what he's doing, or he didn't even bother to open up the phone and check it out, and just wanted to charge me for a new screen because that's what I loosely said was "wrong with it". Only reason it's getting 2 stars is because of his assistant who was nice enough to me, otherwise the service was 1 star. If I manage to fix it myself, Ill give an update.

My laptop had liquid damage, and I brought it in within 24 hours. They repaired it quickly and did an amazing job. Really great service!

The place is bit confusing as no where the name of the shop is written as Chicago irepair. You have to search for Chicago ink and toner. Friendly customer service. Though the quote I got was expensive to repair the product I purchased, I understand that they calculate price based on the work hours. Overall satisfied with the response.

I use ChicagoIRepair multiple times, they fixed my laptops and my phones at very reasonable prices and very quickly. I bought a used laptop of great quality. The owner is very professional, polite and knowledgable.Five Stars !

I called on a Wednesday to ask how long a screen repair would take — I needed photos on my phone for an upcoming orthopedic appointment. I mentioned this. I was told it would be done by Friday over the phone. In the store, probably a half hour later, that changed to “Friday or Saturday.” When I asked a few simple questions — like whether they offer refunds if they’re unable to complete the repair — the employee got defensive and visibly annoyed, even implying I must have “done something else” to the phone just for asking about their policy. He was also annoyed about me asking for a timeline on the repair, stating it will be fixed eventually, and acting as if it didn't matter when it would be done. Seriously, it's a basic question, and certainly not an unreasonable one.

I called Friday for an update, and now the story changed again: the part just arrived, and it wouldn’t be ready until Monday. Fine. Things happen. At this point, I’ve been using a barely functional backup phone for days, so I’m just trying to be patient.

I finally get the call Monday afternoon: it’s ready — too late for my appointment, but whatever. I'm just glad to have a working phone again. Or so I thought.

I made it half a block from the shop before realizing the rear casing was falling off and the camera wasn’t working at all. I turned around immediately. Their excuse? “There’s sand in your phone.” No explanation for how it got there, just a shrug and a weird non-answer. Strange things happen, I guess? They eventually got the backplate mostly back on (not all the way, mind you) and got the camera working again — but why was I even handed the phone in that condition to begin with?

Also: they asked for my password “just to confirm everything was working.” Clearly, they didn’t confirm much of anything. So why was that necessary?

The only positive interaction I had was with the employee I spoke to on the phone Friday — he was polite and professional. Could have even been the same man, just caught him on a better day, I don't know. The employees don't offer their names.

Let me be clear: a repair is not “complete” if your camera doesn’t work and the back of your phone is falling off. Period.

This shop was disorganized, defensive, and sloppy — not a place I would ever trust with my tech again.

I went here to get my battery replaced. They ended up breaking my Face ID. When I took it to Apple, they said there was nothing they could do.

6 months later, my phone kept randomly restarting. I brought it to a different repair center, and they told me the battery wasn’t installed properly — that’s why it was overheating.

Avoid this place. There are plenty of other repair centers that actually know what they’re doing.

I brought my PC in for repairs and ended up waiting over four weeks with no resolution. The staff misdiagnosed the issue multiple times, first blaming the PSU, then the hard drive, and finally the motherboard. After all that, they ordered the wrong motherboard, delaying things even further.

The communication throughout was incredibly poor. When I called for updates, one employee repeatedly gave vague answers like “between Tuesday and Thursday” with no explanation. It felt dismissive and unprofessional, and I was never given a clear plan or timeline. And it didn't even come between Tuesday and Thursday.

I ultimately took my PC back and brought it to MicroCenter, where they began a proper diagnosis right away. I wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone, slow service, poor communication, and no accountability.

Great service! I went for a laptop cleaning and had to fix my iPhone camera. Both were done promptly and quickly.

Do Not Go There !!! I went to repair my laptop screen because water had gotten inside. I paid $650 last June. I don’t usually play music on my computer, but a little while later I realized that the sound on my laptop had not even been repaired. I imagine that if I go back now, they will probably charge me again. Very disappointing experience. People that always want money first !!!!

This is my first time coming here and they fixed my laptop as it had a charging pin that needed to be put in place. They sauntered the pin, did the work in a few hours, and gave me an amazing discount. This really is a shop that cares about the quality of work and customers. Overall I had a very good experience and found my go to computer and cellphone repair shop.

Best place to fix your laptop. I had a bios & board issue, laptop won't turn on but these dudes revived my PC in less than 12hours. They can fix everything.

Went in to get the inner screen of my Galaxy Z fold repaired and when I called Chicago iRepair, they told me they could get the screen in 1 week. Every week the order was delayed and after calling to ask for an update they would tell me it would be ready in a few days. Finally after 4 weeks they told me they got a screen but it was the international version so they were trying to modify it to fit my phone. They eventually ordered the correct screen however, when I got the phone back, the screen was in worse condition than when I had sent it in. You can see that the repairman clearly took a sharp tool and pried up the edges of the screen to fit the new one. When we spoke to Dell, he tried to tell us those pry marks were originally there. After some time he eventually admitted that they were the fault of the repairman and refunded us only half of the $700+ bill. I would have been fine if they realized they couldn’t complete this job correctly and would have refunded my entire bill. Instead, they destroyed my phone and tried to pin the blame on me. Would not trust them to fix your phones - extremely poor service.

My cell phone needed repair and I found a technician who quickly analyzed and got my phone working, if you need cell phone repair, Dale will quickly restore your phone and his service charges are unbeatable. I dropped my phone off and within hours I was back on the Air. For quick, affordable repairs, I recommend you stop here first!

I was unable to turn on my Apple MacBook 16” and brought it to them. They found out it was water damage and assured me that they were very confident. They fixed it the same day and saved me a boat load of money!! Laptop is back to normal and still living and thriving!

I actually came from out of town and I came in today to get my iPhone 6 Plus screen fixed after waiting a whole year of it being cracked. I walked in without an appointment and was helped immediately. They fixed my phone in about 30 minutes and it works great! I even got a free phone case 🙌🏾.

Pretty jarring to discover how much I rely on my phone when the battery flat out died suddenly. I had an Android Pixel 4XL, a phone that came out 4 years ago, yet the guys at Chicago iRepair were able to replace the battery and get it up and running in 3 HOURS. The battery on my iPhone 4 died and I needed it replaced. I called Chicago iRepair to see if they had the battery and could replace it while I waited. They said yes, come on in. I went at lunchtime and was greeted by a knowledgeable man who asked me questions to ensure I received the correct battery replacement. Less than 15 minutes later it was done, I paid a very reasonable amount and was on my way. I will definitely return for my future repair needs.

I had broken my touchscreen for my pretty old moto z. The maker of the phone didn't even have the model written on the outside and I was unsure of what it was, but they still found it out and ordered the parts needed to mend it. The two staff members who helped me over the past week were super kind and courteous and I really recommend coming here! Also my phone works perfectly now :)

Came here to replace a cracked screen on an iPhone 4 with the screen from an iPhone 4 that had a good screen, but was water-damaged. The gentleman who did the repair was very helpful, and although he couldn't save the water-damaged phone, he put a new screen on the non-water-damaged phone for free, and gave us a discount on our next purchase there. All turned around in about an hour! Definitely recommend for fast, friendly, affordable service.

I bought my desktop from Best Buy. About 5 years later it just kind of died. Wouldn't boot up. Took it to Best Buy and they said they couldn't repair it because if it didn't boot then they cound not run their diagnostics. I had gone to Chicago IRepair before as Chicago Ink and Toner for ink cartridges and thought they were a nice local business that sold ink and stuff. Didn't know about the repair part of their biz. Long story short - they fixed it - cheap. And it was the motherboard. I had always thought that if it's the motherboard then the computer was dead or too expensive to fix, but no. Not here. These guys really know their stuff. They said they could fix anything and I believe they can. It runs to this day a year and a half later. They charged me less than $200. I wholeheartedly recommend this business with any type of computer repair, ink and toner and whatever else they do.

Normally, I don't do reviews like this, but I was so impressed with Chicago iRepair that I had to take the time to tell everyone about it. I recently spilled beer on my 3-month-old MacBook (ugh!) and it would not turn on. I took it here for repairs. Dell and his team stayed with me through each step of the repair process (cleaning, keyboard replacement, logic board replacement) until the laptop was working again. Pricing was reasonable and work was done in a timely manner. Highly recommend these guys!

I brought my wife's iPhone in for repair on a Saturday. They fixed the phone and the turnaround time was very quick. I saved a lot of money and time by dropping my phone off with them instead of gong to the Apple store downtown. I also found out they repair computers, laptops, printers and other phones like my Samsung Galaxy phone. They also have printer toner cartridges and other supplies. If you are in the Chicago Downtown or South Loop area, I definitely recommend them.

Yes they fix the screen. BUT, when mine was cracked, the functioning and brightness was perfect and when they fixed it, there is no brightness and there's little spots of light, and my iPhone shuts down on its own every couple of hours, not being able to turn it on for another 24 hours. They aren't willing to fix it, they just go behind the curtain, do something and say it works fine, but they'll hold your phone for a day or two for no reason. It's not just me this happened to 3 other friends of mine.

I took my iphone in to be serviced, and when I got it back it was in worse shape then when I first dropped it off. The repair took 2 days, so not same day service, and was returned with a severe lag. The phone would shut off almost every 4 minutes, and I ended up having to get a new phone because my Mac book wouldn’t recognize it. They wanted my pin code for the repair, but also told me they didn’t know what was wrong and had to research it. Do not go here for you repair needs.

I went to another laptop repair shop that gave me a diagnostic that my macbook pro 2015 keyboard would cost about $300 to fix due to the damage caused on it. When they told me they didn’t have the skills to fix the problem, I was told to come here since they have a great reputation on fixing mac products. I got my problem fixed for less than half of the original estimate, since they were able to diagnose the problems better. Would recommend their service!

$89 for iPhone 6S screen repair. Make appointment prior to the visit to get $10 discount. Repairs within 30 mins (mine took 20 mins). Great service, but my brightness sensor does not work after the repair.

After trying a few other repair shops, this was the best. The phone's LCD and glass were done in less than 20 minutes, and unlike the other repairs before, the screen was fully attached at all corners. The staff was even super friendly. Definitely worth the 10 block walk for me; I'll be back.

Horrible experience. Spent 300 and waited a month+ sadly the phone lasted only a week.

When I dropped the phone off I was told it would be two day service.

2 weeks after initial drop off they called and said the usb charging port was broken. (Which they broke) I had to pay additional for the port. They placed the order and we waited another 2 weeks. When we finally got the phone back the speaker did not work. Brought it back and they said it was broken. I told them I would not pay for the speaker and they said they would take care of it. Another 2 weeks went by and we got the phone back. It worked for a week, however one morning the screen just refused to turn back on.

It was possible a loose connection or damaged cable from constantly having to take the screen of and repairing something else. We decided to just take the loss and buy a new phone.

If you need a note repaired find another shop.

I took my iPhones there to be repaired. They said I will receive a call before any repair would be done and 3 days later is had to call them and ask for an update. The phones were "repaired" already and I picked them up. One worked for 3 hours the other for 2. I took one back and they kept it for 2 weeks trying to fix it. They couldn't so I went to get it just to find 2 other problems and scratches on the phone.

Please do not go here to fix your computer. My Mac's backlight was broken, it took them several weeks to fix and when I got it back, the touchbar didn't work. Gave it back to them and they couldn't figure it out. Then I realized they also broke the internal microphone. Now I'm fed up and won't even go back, I've just accepted that I lost my money. I ended up paying almost as much as Apple anyways after they assured me it would cost "much less" - I wish I'd just gone there in the first place. Horrible experience.

I went in to fix my MacBook Air. I had dropped it in some water, and it wasn't turning on. AppleCare's warranty does not cover water damage. I've had this laptop for about 5 years and was scared it was beyond repair. However, the Chicago iRepair team did awesome work and had my laptop up and running in no time! I had to pay up front whether it was fixed or not, which wasn't the best for me, but I'm glad it all worked out.

i took my laptop there in april to get the screen repairded, they charged me $200 for a part, 2 weeks later, they told me it needed a different part and charged me $200. Then they went radio silent, every time i called them, they told me they would have to call me back and i have never heard back.

I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back. It is December - 8 months later, and i still have not heard from them.

Go to a legit computer repair place, not here.

When my iPad fell and the screen was cracked to the point nothing was recognizable, I was preparing to consult with my bank about my finances. I spilled on coffee on my laptop, I brought it to Chicago iRepair. I was very worried because I spilled lots of coffee. They cleaned up motherboard, and fix it. It took long time, but eventually they had fixed my laptop completely. I'm very appreciated their professionalism, and kindness. I'm writing this review with that laptop lol.

My husband dropped his phone and shattered the screen before leaving Tennessee. We got to Chicago to visit my brother and found this place to replace the screen, it took 10 minutes to put it on. A few days later, we noticed, the screen is pressing on its own without touching it, finding one spot on the screen that’s not completely bonded to the phone, we were leaving back for Tennessee but had no choice but to wait and had the phone repaired. First they said it was going to take 4-5 hours after originally taking 10 minutes to do it in the first place. Well we’re back in Tennessee since my husband had to sign back in to Work being in the army, and guess what, the screen is still doing the same thing. It presses on its own and when you try to actually do something on the screen, it either presses a different button or wouldn’t respond at all. That’s $88 and our time thrown out in the trash. I just wished you guys would’ve just fixed it right in the first place. Or make sure someone certified does the repair rather than quickly repairing something. I am hoping for a resolution even if we’re hundreds of miles away.

This place has been outstanding. The customer service and communication was upstanding. The price for the repair was fair. All in all, I’d highly recommend this place and will be returning.

Was visiting from out of town and my son's Samsung S9 phone died. Took it in and they were able to replace the battery for approx $125. Fast and friendly.
